Empowering Minds through Rights: Exploring the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) to Shape a Just Society
Children are the cornerstone of a nation’s future, and their well-being demands our utmost care and attention. A child’s behaviour often reflects the environment in which they are raised, highlighting the crucial role of a nurturing atmosphere. When we speak of Human Rights, it is essential to begin with the most vulnerable—our children. Every child, regardless of age, deserves to have their human rights preserved.
The beauty of International Law lies in its tailored approach to safeguarding specific groups. For instance, CEDAW protects women's rights, ILO defends labour rights, and similarly, the CRC (Convention on the Rights of the Child) is a ground-breaking International treaty dedicated to ensuring the rights of children. This historic commitment has made the CRC the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history, transforming children’s lives across the globe. India, recognizing the importance of these rights, adopted the CRC in 1992.
