Emerging Frontiers in ELT - Web & Television

The present programme on television KAUN BANEGA KAROREPATI, led by the great millennium artist Amitabh Bacchan, conceptualizes the practice and performance of language through the use of cooperative learning strategies, peer tutoring, and increasing meaningful access through comprehensible input i.e. written texts with texts on recorded media – whether audio or video. It focuses on the preservation of culture, identity and mother tongue but at the same time it has developed universal auxiliary language that can be understood in the farthest locations of multi-cultural India. The KBC programme makes a judicious use of web-based learning through KBC web-game and through this internet-based learning it includes the use of social networking sites, email, chat-boxes, web-browser and podcasts. Similarly the artist Amitabh Bacchan is not only seem to be well-conversed with language proficiency as a teacher but he seems to be very much concerned with cross-culture requirements of multi-lingual nation India. If we perceive Amitabh Bacchan as the E-tutor in this programme, he provides the language driven, diagonistic based instruction that focus on individualized instruction through multi-media and online classroom, where we see the audience respond to his dedicated session of KBC and he also effectively plays the role of a citizen, a stakeholder, an employee who guarantees the completion of programme with better TRP rates day by day just like the E-Age Excellence Programmes.
