Webskills in the ELT: IDD 2021, 15th September, Online Summit at BNU Uda... An Online Summit on the International Day of Democracy 2021 considering its current theme of "National Awareness" was organised on 15th September from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Bhupal Nobles' University, Udaipur. In this webinar, enlightened Speakers and august gathering of attendees participated from different parts of India and abroad. The theme of this year was 'National Awareness'. Dr. Jayshree Singh, Head of the English Department, from Faculty of Humanities, BNU, conducted the program comprehensively with web interaction. In this, former Dean of Law at MLSU, Udaipur, Professor Sharad Srivastava threw light on democracy and its challenges. According to him freedom and responsibility interface each other, unless voices of dissension do not have value system, then degeneration of civility and democracy is certain. He said " Public Unanimity fails when dissension is to malign, instead to emancipate". Hence Democracy is a way of life for co-existence. Professor Simmi Kataria, the Global Knowledge Ambassador Behavioural Scientist, dual citizen of USA and India, currently from Mumbai spoke on emotional and mental health to self-esteem realise goals for community welfare and awareness. Dr Pranjal Kumar Pukhan, Co-Chair of Indian Chamber of Commerce, North East, Assam spoke about the supporting and effective transparent institutions for underprivileged and also about Civil Defense and Democracy. Journalist and E-Books author Dr. Surendra Singh Dogra, speaking from Delhi, kept the side of democracy related to environmental awareness. Apart from this, Supreme Court lawyer Dr. Aishwarya Singh focused on citizen's concern with regard to amendments and the making of the Constitution for the people and Advocate Prema Priyadarshin discussed how judicial activism as mediator, counsellor as well as jury body worked or faced hard times to tackle the strains of Covid-19 lockdown that shattered the system of democracy on account of the economy in doldrums and economic corruption Sunil Thakkar from Australia, etc. also benefited from their views. PRO Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore extended the gratitude to the speakers for making the event informative and reflective. Professor Meera Mathur, Dr. Sangeeta Rathore, Dr. Manisha Shekhawat, Dr. Mahipal Singh Deora, Deepak Paliwal from England, Padma Krishnawat etc. were also present in this seminar. This day is being celebrated since 2007 on the recommendation of the United Nations General Assembly.
